Adobe has announced Firefly AI Assistant, a chat-based tool that handles complex multi-step workflows across applications like Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator and Lightroom. The assistant reduces barriers for less experienced users while keeping professionals in control, Adobe says. It enters public beta in the coming weeks.
Adobe's Firefly AI Assistant allows users to describe desired outcomes in natural language prompts, executing tasks across its Creative Cloud suite. Previously previewed as Project Moonlight last October, the tool orchestrates workflows between apps, checking in with users for feedback and adjustments along the way. Adobe emphasizes that users remain in control, able to interject mid-task and produce fully editable files in native formats. The company describes it as lowering the 'barrier to entry' created by app complexity, bridging the gap between ideas and output for casual and expert creatives alike. It dynamically offers relevant controls, such as sliders for scene adjustments in product photos, and learns individual stylistic preferences over time. Creative Skills provide prebuilt workflows, like generating social media assets tailored for platforms such as Instagram or Facebook, which users can customize. Integration with Frame.io enables team feedback and sharing. Adobe positions this as a strategic shift toward AI that facilitates new working paradigms rather than just enhancing existing apps.
