Corporación América Airports announced an 8.8% year-over-year increase in passenger traffic for January 2026, reaching 7.609 million passengers. The growth was primarily driven by strong performances in Argentina, Brazil, and Italy. International traffic rose by 14.8%, while domestic and transit segments also saw gains.

Corporación América Airports, which manages airports in countries including Argentina, Brazil, and Italy, released its January 2026 passenger traffic report on February 24, 2026. The total passenger volume reached 7.609 million, up from 6.995 million in January 2025, marking an 8.8% increase across all segments.

International passenger traffic grew by 14.8%, domestic by 2.6%, and transit by 16.6%. Over 50% of the overall growth came from Argentina, where total traffic increased by 7.9%. In Argentina, domestic traffic remained stable, but international traffic surged 21.8%, fueled by new summer routes such as from Buenos Aires to Cabo Frio and from Córdoba to Aruba, along with additional flights to Tucumán and Florianópolis. Aerolíneas Argentinas expanded services, and GOL and LATAM added flights from Mendoza to Rio de Janeiro and Ezeiza to Florianópolis.

Brazil recorded a 15.6% rise in total traffic, with domestic up 13.3%, international 13.9%, and transit 18.7%. This reflects Brazil's role as a key travel hub amid aviation challenges. In Italy, total traffic increased by 4%, with international up 7.2% at Florence and Pisa airports, though domestic fell 6% due to weather-related disruptions.

Other regions showed positive trends: Uruguay up 1% with new GOL services from Montevideo to Fortaleza; Ecuador up 4.9% in domestic traffic despite security issues; and Armenia up 10.1% following Wizz Air's new base at Yerevan Airport.

Cargo traffic declined 6.2% year-over-year, affected by weaker performances in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Italy, though Armenia saw growth. Aircraft movements rose 4.3%, indicating recovery in air travel with added flights to meet demand. The report highlights the aviation industry's resilience post-pandemic, with sustained demand in Latin America and Europe.
