Experienced Formula 1 aerodynamicist Dan Fallows is returning to the sport as technical director for Racing Bulls, starting in April. The British engineer, who previously led technical efforts at Aston Martin and Red Bull, will report to chief technical officer Tim Goss. This move bolsters the Faenza-based team's leadership ahead of the 2026 season.

Racing Bulls has appointed Dan Fallows as its new technical director, filling a vacancy left by Jody Egginton, who departed for Red Bull Advanced Technologies in early 2025. Fallows, a veteran in Formula 1 aerodynamics, will oversee the team's overall technical direction, spanning design, aerodynamics, and performance. He brings extensive experience from his time at Red Bull, where he served from 2006 to 2021, rising from team leader to chief engineer in the aerodynamics department. Earlier, from 2001 to 2004, he worked as a senior aerodynamicist at Jaguar Racing.

Fallows joined Aston Martin in 2022 after a high-profile move that sparked a contractual dispute with Red Bull. However, he was dismissed from his role as technical director at the end of the 2024 season amid the team's underwhelming performance. Aston Martin's performance director Tom McCullough noted at the time: "The performance of the team this year hasn't been at the level that we've all been wanting it to be at. So we haven't quite delivered there." McCullough praised Fallows' contributions to the 2022 and 2023 cars but acknowledged the performance-based nature of the industry.

Following his exit, Fallows founded Hiperformant in June 2025, focusing on applying F1 expertise to high-performance engineering projects. Now returning to the grid, he expressed enthusiasm: "I’m very pleased to be joining VCARB at an exciting time for the team. There is a clear vision and strong technical ambition, and I’m looking forward to working closely with Tim and the wider engineering group to help drive performance and continue building the team for the future."

Racing Bulls team principal Alan Permane welcomed the hire: "Dan has a wealth of experience, and his technical understanding and leadership will be a real asset to the team as we continue to develop and push forward competitively. We’re delighted to welcome him to VCARB."

The team is preparing for 2026 with a new driver lineup of Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson, who recently conducted a shakedown of the VCARB 03 at Imola.

What people are saying

Reactions on X to Dan Fallows' appointment as Racing Bulls' technical director are predominantly positive, emphasizing his extensive experience and return to the Red Bull family as a key boost ahead of 2026. Skeptical voices question its impact on race pace and view it as a step down from Aston Martin.
