Halsey set to star in psycho-sexual horror Replacer

U.S. pop star Halsey will star in the upcoming film Replacer, a psycho-sexual horror project that she co-wrote with actor-director Avan Jogia. Jogia is directing the movie, which has Lilly Wachowski serving as executive producer.

Halsey plays Proxy, a troubled DJ stranded in Montreal who encounters an artist and his circle running an underground radio station. A mysterious signal from beneath the subway system warps the broadcasts, forcing Proxy to escape before the sound transforms everyone involved into something unrecognizable and primal. The project is launching sales at this week’s Cannes market, with Halsey and Jogia attending to meet buyers. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are handling North American rights while Film Mode Entertainment manages international sales.
