Lilly Wachowski to host live reading of 'The Hunted'

Lilly Wachowski is preparing a live reading of her dystopian political thriller The Hunted, scheduled for August 7-8 at Dynasty Typewriter in Los Angeles.

The event will feature the script co-written by Wachowski and Mickey R. Mahoney. It comes as the film remains in late-stage development with producers including Natasha Lyonne through her Ariadne Collective banner.

The story follows two trans women investigating a crime that leads to the highest levels of government in a dystopian America. Wachowski described the project as drawing from traditions like Wild in the Streets and V for Vendetta.

"Queer people have a necessary desire to be in community and for trans people, at this time, this need is particularly urgent," Wachowski said. She added that the reading aims to deliver the same joy experienced during the writing process.

Producers include Anarchists United along with Lawrence Mattis, Sarah Marie Flores, Jason Weinberg and Daniel Flick at Untitled Entertainment. Casting and ticket details will be released soon.
