The Guará Jury Court sentenced João Paulo Teixeira to 29 years, 11 months and 23 days in a closed regime for the murder and dismemberment of Thalita Marques Berquó Ramos in January 2025.
The crime took place on January 13, 2025, in an invasion at Parque Ecológico Ezechias Henringer in the Federal District. Thalita, aged 36, was killed with stones and stabs after a dispute over drug quality. Her body was dismembered, with the head and legs thrown into a stream and the torso buried on site.
João Paulo Teixeira was convicted of qualified homicide, corpse concealment and corruption of minors. The jurors accepted the qualifiers of futile motive, cruel means and a resource that prevented the victim's defense. Two teenagers also face infractions analogous to homicide.
During the trial, João Paulo denied direct involvement in the killing but confessed to helping bury the body. The victim's mother described the family's suffering. The sentence was handed down on Thursday.
