In X-Men '97 Season 2 Episode 4, Apocalypse uses his Celestial armor to vaporize Magneto. Only the mutant's helmet remains after the attack. The scene follows the Genosha massacre from earlier in the series.
The event occurs at the end of the episode titled "The Rise of Apocalypse Part II." Apocalypse grabs Magneto and eliminates him in front of Professor Xavier.
Magneto previously appeared to perish during the Genosha events in Season 1 but returned alive two episodes later. The extended focus on the new scene and Professor Xavier's reaction suggest it may carry more weight.
In the comics, Magneto has died multiple times, including in X-Men: Red #5 from 2022 and the 2024 series Resurrection of Magneto.
