Kalmar HC has appointed Mikael Sundell as its new assistant coach on a two-year deal. The move comes as the club also faces rumors about Mattias Karlin becoming head coach.
Mikael Sundell signed the contract after arriving from HV71, where he spent the end of last season on loan. He had previously been dismissed by Modo. Sundell expressed optimism about the role in a club statement. He described the position as an exciting challenge with a team that is advancing in the league system and said he hopes for strong support at Hatstore Arena. Kalmar general manager Daniel Stolt highlighted Sundell's experience and drive. Stolt noted that Sundell excels at daily operations with a focus on development and high standards. The appointment occurred on Monday. Reports indicate Sundell may reunite with Mattias Karlin, who is rumored to join as head coach.
