Omar Andres Ramos Castro, 24, faces second-degree murder charges after police say he stabbed Gabriel Arrazola Perez and left his body on railroad tracks in St. Paul.
Ramos Castro was arrested on June 4 and charged days after Perez's body was discovered on May 25. A man's dog led officers to the scene on the tracks, where Perez, a 44-year-old barbershop owner, was identified by his driver's license. According to a criminal complaint, Perez was last seen at a brewery gathering on May 24. Phone records and surveillance video placed Ramos Castro with him near the tracks that evening. Ramos Castro initially denied involvement but later admitted to an encounter. He told police that Perez made unwanted sexual advances and that he stabbed him with a pocketknife in a fit of rage. Perez suffered multiple stab wounds, including defensive injuries, and fractures to three vertebrae. Ramos Castro is held at the Ramsey County Jail on a $2.5 million bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for Monday.
