President-elect Abelardo De La Espriella announced that Paola Holguín will serve as Culture Minister. Holguín is a social communicator and holds a master's degree in political studies.
The announcement was made on July 17, 2026. Holguín has led cultural processes in Antioquia and authored the law declaring the carriel as national cultural heritage. She also secured Taiwanese support for an arts and crafts center in Jericó.
De La Espriella wrote on X that culture is the memory of a people and a strength of Colombia. He added that artists will have a state that values their work.
The Culture Ministry has averaged 25 months in duration since 2000, with 14 ministers during that period.
