The Deliberative Council of the Instituto Vladimir Herzog (IVH) welcomed theologian Ronilso Pacheco and journalist Flávia Oliveira. The council oversees the entity's management guidelines.
Pacheco, a pastor and prominent voice in racial justice discussions, serves as a UOL columnist and director of programs at the Instituto de Estudos da Religião, an IVH partner. He coordinated the institute's 2018 book "Jesus e os Direitos Humanos".
Oliveira, a columnist for O Globo and commentator on GloboNews and CBN, joins after receiving the 2024 Special Vladimir Herzog Award for her contributions to democracy, diversity, and human rights.
The institute's leadership stated that the two newcomers bolster the council's plurality and its strategic role "in the political orientation of the entity amid contemporary challenges". Other members include journalist Miriam Leitão, anthropologist Lilia Schwarcz, and writer Zuenir Ventura, all from the Academia Brasileira de Letras.
