A 51-year-old employee of a violence reduction program in Baltimore faces multiple charges including attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man at a gas station.
Antoine Burton was arrested Sunday after surveillance video captured him chasing and firing at a 40-year-old man outside a Sunoco station on Park Heights Avenue. The footage shows the two men wrestling inside the building before the victim runs out. Burton, according to police, fired twice, striking the man once in the leg and once in the back. Burton, who works for Safe Streets Baltimore, appeared in court Tuesday and is being held without bond. A preliminary hearing is set for July 8. Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott called the incident an isolated case and expressed support for the victim while defending the program's overall work.
