AfD-kandidat Uwe Arendt vinder første runde af valget til landråd i Saalekreis

I Saalekreis i Sachsen-Anhalt vandt AfD-politikeren Uwe Arendt første runde af landrådsvalget med 43,3 procent af stemmerne. Han skal nu møde CDU-kandidaten Sven Czekalla i en anden valgrunde.

Valget fandt sted i adskillige østtyske distrikter. Arendt fik 43,3 procent og opnåede dermed ikke et absolut flertal. Sven Czekalla fra CDU fik 36,6 procent. Arendt står i øjeblikket over for en disciplinærsag ved politiinspektoratet i Halle. Ifølge rapporter skulle han have gennemført valgkampagneoptrædener på trods af at have været sygemeldt i måneder. AfD er klassificeret som højreekstremistisk af det tyske forfatningsværn i Sachsen-Anhalt. Den anden valgrunde er planlagt til den 28. juni. Yderligere andenvalgrunder med deltagelse af AfD-kandidater vil finde sted i Saalfeld-Rudolstadt og Ostprignitz-Ruppin.
