Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed that nationwide crisis and disaster simulation exercises be held at least once or twice a year to improve emergency readiness and public awareness.
Al-Sisi made the remarks on 7 July 2026 during a demonstration of state response capabilities at the Strategic Command Headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. The event was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Defence Minister Ashraf Salem Zaher, Chief of Staff Ahmed Khalifa, parliamentary speakers, cabinet ministers and senior officials.
The demonstration covered equipment for terrorist incidents, disease outbreaks, natural and industrial disasters, as well as search-and-rescue and medical evacuation operations. Al-Sisi stated that the displayed capabilities represented only a fraction of available resources and noted that the headquarters coordinates efforts across government institutions and governorates.
He stressed the importance of continuous training, operational readiness and regular simulation exercises rather than improvised responses. Al-Sisi also called for greater public awareness through schools, universities, mosques, churches and the media, and urged institutions to enhance preventive risk assessment.
