Android's find hub adds luggage tracking links for airlines

Google has introduced a new feature in its Android Find Hub that allows users to share the location of lost luggage with airlines. The update, part of the March Pixel Drop, enables generating a secure link to track Find Hub-compatible tags. Several global airlines already support this functionality.

Google announced on March 3, 2026, a series of updates to Android as part of its March software release for Pixel phones, known as the Pixel Drop. A key addition is a luggage-tracking feature in the Find Hub app, which lets users share the real-time location of missing bags with participating airlines. This mirrors a similar capability introduced by Apple for iPhone users.

To use the feature, Android users with a Find Hub-compatible tracker tag attached to their luggage can select the lost item in the app and tap 'share item location' to generate a unique, secure URL. This link can then be pasted into the airline's mobile app or website, allowing baggage recovery teams to view the location on a map. Google emphasizes privacy measures: the link expires after seven days, sharing can be stopped at any time, location data is encrypted, and tracking automatically disables once the phone detects the item has returned.

More than 10 airlines currently accept Find Hub location links, including AJet, Air India, China Airlines, Saudia Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and the Lufthansa Group, which encompasses Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Swiss International Air Lines. Google plans to expand partnerships, with Qantas among those expected to integrate the feature soon. A Google spokesperson, Sofia Giovannello, told The Verge that the company is 'actively working with additional airline partners to integrate this feature into their luggage recovery processes, and we look forward to sharing more updates.' Google is also collaborating with luggage manufacturer Samsonite to embed Find Hub technology into new designs.

The announcement includes other Android enhancements, such as real-time location sharing within Google Messages, customizable Calling Cards in the Phone app, a short-form video carousel in the Google Play Store for app discovery, and educational games for children aged 3 to 12 on Android Auto. For Pixel devices, updates to Circle to Search introduce tools like 'Find the Look' and 'Try It On' for outfits, while the At a Glance widget adds real-time transit info, live game scores, and finance updates. Pixel Watch users gain features like phone-left-behind alerts, automatic phone locking when out of range, and one-handed gestures for calls and workouts.
