GM Andy Woodward defeated GM Andrew Tang in the Grand Final Reset of the Chess.com Hyperbullet Championship 2026 to win the title and deny his rival a third straight victory.
The event concluded on June 19 after qualifiers the previous day. Woodward earned the $750 first prize after advancing through the losers bracket and prevailing in both the winners bracket grand final and the reset match.
Woodward excelled in the 30-second-per-game hyperbullet format by consistently gaining time on the clock in later stages. He defeated GM Jeffrey Xiong in the losers bracket final before overcoming Tang twice in the decisive matches.
Tang had won the prior two editions of the tournament. Woodward described his approach afterward, saying he tries to limit bullet play but finds it addictive and useful for fast calculation and tactics.
The double-elimination knockout featured eight players and formed part of the Chess.com Community Chess Championships with a total prize fund of $2,500.
