The national government announced the construction of a modular nuclear reactor at the Atucha complex with private US funding.
The announcement was made on July 2 at the Ministry of Economy. Participants included Minister Luis Caputo, Nuclear Affairs Secretary Federico Ramos Nápoli and Meitner Energy CEO Teófilo Lacroze.
The project involves the ACR-300, a 300-megawatt small modular reactor with PWR technology developed by Argentine engineers. Construction will take about five years and generate around 2000 direct jobs.
Meitner Energy, linked to the Ansari Group, will fully finance the plant. Nucleoeléctrica Argentina may later assume its operation and maintenance.
