Pacula, a 25-year-old from Mozambique, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and violating the Immigration Act. He was arrested last month in the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose, east of Johannesburg.
According to police, Pacula allegedly fired the fatal shots at DJ Warras outside the Zambezi building in Johannesburg's central business district last year. They also found dreadlocks there, matching descriptions from the shooting scene, despite Pacula appearing without them in court. The state has indicated it will strongly contest Pacula's bail, citing the severity of the allegations.
