Ball kid collapse interrupts Halle Open match

A ball kid fainted due to heat during the round of 32 match between Fabian Marozsan and Miomir Kecmanovic at the Halle Open. The incident halted play briefly on June 16 before Marozsan secured the victory.

The collapse occurred on Court 2 with Kecmanovic serving at 4-5 in the deciding third set. Temperatures reached 77 degrees Fahrenheit, prompting immediate medical attention for the child.

Marozsan checked on the ball kid as staff provided care and removed the individual from the court. A reserve ball kid replaced the affected one to allow play to resume under ATP protocols.

Marozsan won the first set 6-4 before dropping the second. He clinched the third set on his eighth match point after Kecmanovic saved seven, finishing with an 11-15 season record.

The Hungarian will next face either Zizou Bergs or fifth-seeded Taylor Fritz.
