Busted guitarist James Bourne has completed work on a new album while facing serious health issues that required major surgery. The project, titled 'Murder At The Gates', is set for release on July 1.
Bourne shared details of his experience in an interview with The Sun. He had feared his condition might prevent him from finishing the record, which he has developed over 13 years for a musical by playwright Steven Sater.
"There was a fear of not finishing it. But I knew I had to finish it and give this to the people," Bourne said. He described the completed album as his first production effort and expressed pride in the result, which includes contributions from Stranger Things actor Gaten Matarazzo.
Bourne stepped away from Busted's joint tour with McFly last year after announcing he was not healthy enough to perform. Bandmates Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson continued the dates and publicly wished him well. He later called the time away a "gift" that allowed him to focus on the album.
