PP president Ciro Nogueira rejected on Wednesday (22) Flávio Bolsonaro's request to form an alliance in the 2026 presidential race. The União Progressista federation is set to remain neutral.
Ciro Nogueira met Flávio Bolsonaro in Brasília and turned down the PL candidate's request for support. Close sources say the senator from Piauí denied closing the door, but the neutrality decision has already been made.
The federation formed by PP and União Brasil is not expected to hold a national convention. This will cut Flávio Bolsonaro's television advertising time by about 20% compared to President Lula.
Nogueira's shift came after a Federal Police operation and Flávio's failure to defend him. State directories of the PP also opposed the alliance.
