Kystvagten bevæbner fartøjer mod trusler fra droner i Østersøen

Den svenske kystvagt har indsendt en plan til regeringen for at beskytte sine fartøjer mod stigende trusler i Østersøen. Agenturet introducerer nye våben, signalstøjsendere og træning til at håndtere droner og hybride angreb.

Den forværrede sikkerhedssituation har fået Kystvagten til hurtigt at udvikle foranstaltninger til øget selvbeskyttelse. Generaldirektør Lena Lindgren Schelin siger, at udgangspunktet er, at situationen kan blive værre. Planen inkluderer montering af Kulspruta 58 på fartøjer og udstyring af personalet med automatkarbin 24 til selvforsvar.

Agenturet planlægger også at købe haglgeværer til at skyde små droner ned og introducere signalstøjsendere mod GPS- og radiosignaler. Omkring 300 medarbejdere skal gennemgå fem ugers våbentræning, hvilket midlertidigt vil påvirke den almindelige drift.

Kystvagten foreslår lovændringer for at udpege fartøjer som beskyttede objekter og dermed få bemyndigelse til at gribe ind over for droner. På længere sigt undersøges muligheden for fjernstyrede 30 mm kanoner til nye skibe efter 2030.
