Damietta Port received the bulk carrier Yang Fan carrying 144780 tonnes of slag from China, marking the largest such cargo in the port's history.
The Panama-flagged vessel arrived from Singapore and measures 289 metres in length, 45 metres in width and has a draught of 16 metres.
Port Authority Chairperson Tarek Adly Abdallah said the reception shows the readiness of the navigation channel and berths following recent upgrades.
Unloading is being handled by equipment from Sisco Trans for Advanced Logistics as part of a Ministry of Transport plan led by Minister Kamel El-Wazir to boost Egyptian ports' capacity.
