Le port de Damiette a accueilli le vraquier Yang Fan, transportant 144 780 tonnes de laitier en provenance de Chine, ce qui constitue la plus importante cargaison de ce type dans l'histoire du port.

Le navire battant pavillon panaméen est arrivé de Singapour ; il mesure 289 mètres de long, 45 mètres de large et possède un tirant d'eau de 16 mètres.

Le président de l'autorité portuaire, Tarek Adly Abdallah, a déclaré que cette réception démontre la préparation du chenal de navigation et des postes à quai suite aux récentes mises à niveau.

Le déchargement est assuré par les équipements de Sisco Trans for Advanced Logistics, dans le cadre d'un plan du ministère des Transports dirigé par le ministre Kamel El-Wazir visant à accroître la capacité des ports égyptiens.
