Delhi University academic council approves 5% online credit plan amid dissent

In New Delhi, Delhi University (DU)'s Academic Council (AC) approved a plan letting students earn 5% of their total credits via SWAYAM or other massive open online course (MOOC) platforms. The decision came amid opposition from faculty members concerned about its impact on traditional learning.

DU Registrar Vikas Gupta said elected members dissented during discussions on the proposal, but it passed by majority. He confirmed the outcome of the meeting.

Faculty members alleged the meeting was abruptly adjourned while they were voicing their opposition. The move highlights tensions over integrating online education into the curriculum.
