Commission III of the Indonesian parliament has sharply criticized Rien Wartia Trigina alias Erin for filing a counter report against her former domestic worker Herawati under the personal data protection law.
The criticism arose during a meeting discussing the alleged violence experienced by Herawati. Deputy Chairman of Commission III Habiburokhman assessed that using the PDP Law was inappropriate because personal data refers to items like ID cards and bank accounts, not body photos.
"The use of the PDP Law in cases like this is certainly not appropriate. Because what is meant by personal data is not about photos like that, but security such as ID cards, accounts, and others," Habiburokhman said.
Commission III member Safaruddin stressed that Herawati should receive legal protection as a victim. He asked police not to proceed with the report against her and offered assurances for her safety.
