Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan discussed a major agricultural project and new shipping route during talks in the Tanzanian capital.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of two memorandums of understanding covering transport, electricity and renewable energy. Discussions focused on boosting bilateral trade and mutual investment in sectors including agriculture, ports and logistics.
They reviewed plans for an agricultural land reclamation project in Tanzania to produce strategic crops for food security. Al-Sisi expressed Egypt’s readiness to help expand the Port of Dar es Salaam and establish a direct shipping route between Safaga Port and Dar es Salaam.
Suluhu Hassan praised the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project as a successful model of cooperation. The presidents also agreed to maintain consultations on Nile Basin issues and regional matters.
