Ernie Clement powered the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday with a three-run homer and key defensive plays. The infielder leads the American League with 76 hits and 19 doubles this season.
Clement hit his sixth home run of the year in the victory. He also made a ranging play in the third inning and a diving catch in the eighth to help preserve the lead. Manager John Schneider praised Clement's adjustments at the plate. 'He's adjusting to what the league’s doing,' Schneider said. 'His at-bats, he’s dictating them.' Clement described his approach. 'I’m pulling the ball a ton. I’m looking for pitches I can pull and do some damage on,' he said. 'You’ve got to be locked in every day.' Fan voting is open for the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia, where Clement is a candidate. His contact rate on pitches in the zone stands at 91.9 percent.
