Shohei Ohtani and Ernie Clement earned automatic starting spots for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game following Phase 1 of fan voting. Major League Baseball announced the results on Thursday. Ohtani leads the National League with 3,341,257 votes at designated hitter, while Clement tops the American League with 3,232,932 votes at second base.
The 96th All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Phase 2 voting begins at noon ET on Monday and runs through noon ET on July 2, with winners announced on July 4.
Clement, a first-time All-Star for the Blue Jays, advanced past Phase 2 due to his vote total. Several teammates including Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Alejandro Kirk also reached the next round.
Ohtani, seeking his sixth All-Star appearance with the Dodgers, will start at DH for the National League. Manager Dave Roberts will lead the NL squad.
Full rosters, including reserves and pitchers, will be revealed on July 6. Each of MLB's 30 teams must be represented.
