Ex-wife of As I Lay Dying's Tim Lambesis details abuse allegations in podcast

Dany Ciara, the ex-wife of As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis, has shared detailed abuse allegations against him in a nearly four-hour interview on the BREWtally Speaking Podcast. The claims come amid ongoing disputes over their volatile relationship, which contributed to the band's member exodus in fall 2024. Lambesis has denied the accusations and countered with his own claims of abuse.

The interview, released on December 28, 2024, delves into Ciara's upbringing, her relationship with Lambesis, their marriage, and the events leading to their divorce. It addresses footage of heated arguments that surfaced online last year, which Lambesis used to claim Ciara assaulted him physically and verbally over three years. He stated he had videos of her actions, photos of a black eye she allegedly caused, and had filed a restraining order while initiating a domestic-violence investigation.

Ciara denied these in January 2025, asserting no such order or investigation targeted her. She described the videos as instances of self-defense against Lambesis's physical and mental abuse, as well as his repeated infidelity. In the podcast, at around 2:34:07, Ciara addressed Lambesis's claim that she chased him with a knife or scissors. "I will say I have pulled a knife on him more than once," she said, explaining it as a means to maintain distance during escalations. She recounted cycles where Lambesis would pin her down, using his body weight to restrict her breathing, or strangle her, with roommates—some former prison associates—failing to intervene despite her screams. Neighbors once called police during such an incident.

Ciara claimed she has evidence of strangling and displayed screenshots of texts with roommates corroborating her account. She noted the videos Lambesis referenced likely lack audio, where she would say, "Stay the fuck away from me." At 2:59:30, she showed logs of multiple police visits to their home for domestic-violence calls. In one case, Lambesis was arrested on suspicion of battery, but Ciara intervened by writing a letter to the district attorney claiming she had lied to police, protecting his career despite his assault. "I took the guilt even though he physically assaulted me," she explained, adding she has texts showing her reasons for the letter.

Lambesis responded on social media, saying he stayed silent to focus on work but spoke out due to repeating patterns. "If anything illegal had happened in the years since, it would have been addressed through proper channels," he wrote. In comments, he described panic attacks from being trapped and chased, with multiple witnesses, and dismissed Ciara's claims as from a "psychotic woman."

The allegations remain disputed, with no new legal action announced. The podcast episode, including Ciara's visual evidence, is available online.
