Fadli Zon inaugurates Cipari Prehistoric Park Museum in Kuningan

Culture Minister Fadli Zon inaugurated the Cipari Prehistoric Park Museum in Kuningan Regency, West Java, on Saturday (April 4, 2026). The museum holds evidence of ancient Nusantara civilization from the megalithic and neolithic eras, including sorkafagus proving advanced burial technology. Revitalization since December 2025 aims to make it an educational hub for young people.

The Cipari Prehistoric Park Museum site in Cipari Village, Cigugur District, Kuningan Regency, is now more representative following revitalization in December 2025. Improvements focused on exhibition spaces to support education.

Head of the West Java Cultural Preservation Agency, Retno Raswanto, said, “Going forward, the museum will become an active learning space, especially for the younger generation,” during the inauguration on Saturday (April 4, 2026).

Fadli Zon emphasized shifting the museum paradigm from mere storage to spaces for education, dialogue, and experience. “Visitors must get an experience,” he stated. The day before, he also urged revitalization of other cultural heritage sites like Gedung Naskah Linggarjati and Gedung Sjahrir.

Researched since the 1970s, the Cipari site proves Indonesia's ancient civilization. Fadli added that the government is pushing digital-based museum transformations, stronger curator roles, and integration with education and the creative industry.
