Police in Aberdeen, Washington, have arrested the father of a 4-year-old boy whose body was discovered buried in his grandmother's backyard.
Jacob Scott Bevins, 36, was taken into custody on Friday on suspicion of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, unlawful disposal of human remains, and making a false statement to a public servant. He remains in the Grays Harbor County Jail without bail and has not yet been formally charged. The boy's body was found on May 15 after police received a complaint about the whereabouts of Bevins' 6-year-old daughter on May 12. Relatives reported they had not seen Aiden Bevins for some time. Bevins initially told officers his son was staying with relatives in another state, but those relatives confirmed they had not seen the child. Officers returned to the property with a crime scene team and discovered the body in the backyard. A cause of death has not been released. Aiden had previously been in foster care with Gary and Magali Lopez, who said they had raised concerns with child welfare authorities before the boy was returned to his biological parents.
