Pierre Gasly has been reinstated in third place at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix after FIA stewards overturned his two pit lane speeding penalties. The decision followed a right of review requested by his Alpine team.
Gasly crossed the finish line third on June 7 but received two five-second penalties that dropped him to seventh. Stewards ruled on June 12 in Barcelona that Gasly had not exceeded the 60km/h limit after evidence showed an error in the official timing system distance measurement.
The Frenchman told Sky Sports he was proud of the team but noted the outcome would not replace the missed podium celebrations. "It won't give me back what I lost," he said. "These moments are what make a career so special."
Red Bull's Isack Hadjar lost the podium position and now sits fourth. McLaren and Red Bull have notified their intention to appeal within the 96-hour window. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said the team is assessing options for George Russell, who was also penalised.
Formula One Management said it will implement any necessary improvements to pit lane procedures. Alpine gains nine additional points in both championships.
