On the night of January 7, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) used the social network X to accuse Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes of "denialism" and ignoring basic medical protocols. The criticism arose after Moraes annulled an inquiry opened by the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) to investigate medical assistance provided to former President Jair Bolsonaro in the Federal Police (PF) prison.
Bolsonaro suffered a mild cranial trauma after hitting his head on furniture in the early morning in his cell. According to his attending physician, Brasil Caiado, treatment only occurred about 24 hours later at DF Star Hospital. Exams confirmed the mild injury, but Flávio highlighted the risk to his father's life, stating that the delay and lack of continuous monitoring in a locked cell at night are "unacceptable."
"Bolsonaro could have been found dead in the morning. Is that what Moraes roots for against Bolsonaro?", the senator questioned in a post. He defended the CFM's statement, which emphasizes that bureaucracy cannot override human care, and criticized Moraes' decision as paranoid and dangerous.
Moraes justified the annulment by stating that the CFM lacks competence to investigate PF actions. The justice prohibited similar procedures at national or state levels, ordered the CFM president to be questioned by the PF within 10 days, and required the hospital to send Bolsonaro's medical reports within 24 hours.
Flávio Bolsonaro stated that the ex-president's legal team is working to obtain humanitarian house arrest, citing a lack of common sense in the case's rapporteur. He also demanded a stance from STF President Edson Fachin on Moraes' conduct.
The Federal Police informed the STF of noise times near Bolsonaro's cell, and a special surveillance scheme has been set up for the ex-president.
