Former deputy and gynecologist arrested then released in Paraná

Gynecologist and former state deputy Felipe Lucas, 81, was preventively arrested in Curitiba on suspicion of sexually abusing a patient in labor. The arrest took place on Wednesday and was revoked on Thursday evening.

According to the Paraná Civil Police, the preventive arrest was authorized by the court after the victim reported suffering abuse for about five minutes at the start of labor in Teixeira Soares. The alleged facts would have occurred in 2011.

The doctor's defense stated that the court recognized the extinction of punishability due to the time elapsed. The lawyers said the allegation is completely false and that Felipe Lucas will prove his innocence in court.

The Regional Medical Council of Paraná opened an inquiry procedure to investigate the complaints independently. The doctor, who served as councilor, mayor of Irati and state deputy in different periods, currently resides in Irati.
