Franco Colapinto has described the period after his heavy crash in Las Vegas as the most difficult of his Formula 1 career so far.
The Argentine driver joined Williams in August 2024 after Logan Sargeant was dropped. He made an immediate impact with points finishes in his early races, including a strong showing in Baku.
A crash during qualifying in Las Vegas changed everything. The 50g impact destroyed his car and left him racing with older parts for the final events of the season in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Colapinto said the setback came at a critical time as he sought a full-time seat for 2025. He later joined Alpine as a reserve before returning to the grid after the Miami Grand Prix that year.
In the interview he noted that the challenges of 2025 helped him grow more as a driver than his progress in 2026.
