Berlin. Clément Beaune, leder af Frankrigs planlægningsråd og nær fortrolig til præsident Emmanuel Macron, ser Europas økonomi stå over for en dobbelt trussel. En ny energikrise gør afhængigheden af olie og gas særligt bekostelig. Samtidig ruller et industrielt chok ind fra Kina.

"Den kinesiske trussel mod vores industri og økonomiske magt er gigantisk, og den vil vare ved," sagde Beaune i interviewet med Handelsblatt. Folkerepublikken er ikke bare billigere, men teknologisk set på niveau med eller overlegen i mange sektorer. Tyskland er "det land, der er hårdest ramt."

Beaunes svar: Europa har brug for flere investeringer, mindre bureaukrati og beskyttelse mod kinesisk import – herunder told på op til 30 procent på al kinesisk import. Frankrig kan lære af Tyskland angående frihandelsaftaler. Forslagene er yderst kontroversielle i Berlin.
