Google bygger datacenter i Horndal

Google vil opføre et datacenter i Horndal uden for Avesta. Beslutningen kommer efter en ti år lang ventetid præget af både forventninger og kritik.

Efter lang tids venten har Google annonceret, at de vil etablere et datacenter i Horndal. Planen inkluderer flere tusinde arbejdspladser under selve byggefasen, efterfulgt af cirka 100 faste stillinger. Beslutningen påvirker Avesta kommune gennem nye beskæftigelsesmuligheder og en fond på 54 millioner svenske kroner til udvikling. Den lokale beboer Madeleine i Horndal ser det som en mulighed for de arbejdsløse. Bekymringer omkring byggetrafik i området er også blevet noteret. Google har lovet at påbegynde byggeriet efter beslutningen, der blev rapporteret i begyndelsen af juni.
