President Lee Jae Myung held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss the results of Trump's recent summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The phone talks were arranged at Seoul's request and lasted 30 minutes. Trump shared the outcome of his summit with Xi and the leaders discussed peace on the Korean Peninsula along with smooth implementation of their bilateral trade deal reached last year.
Lee congratulated Trump on his successful visit to China and praised his leadership on Middle East issues while hoping the region would soon regain peace. Trump said he would continue to play a role to ensure peace and stability on the peninsula in close cooperation with Lee.
The two leaders expressed hope for their reunion at the upcoming Group of Seven summit next month. The call marked the second of its kind since the first held on June 6, 2025, and their first direct communication since their summit in Gyeongju in late October.
