Lewis Hamilton says his decision to stop using Ferrari's Formula 1 simulator has helped his performance significantly. The seven-time world champion made the choice ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix in May.
Hamilton told Motorsport that he has not used the simulator in Maranello since then. He said the tool lacked sufficient correlation with the real car.
"No," he replied when asked if he had used it since Canada. Pressed further, he added: "Massively."
Hamilton explained his long experience with simulators dating back to 1997. He noted that they can mislead drivers and cited similar issues during his time at Mercedes.
He expects a tougher challenge for Ferrari against Mercedes at the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps due to the track's long straights. Hamilton praised his team's ongoing fine adjustments to the car.
