The pretrial hearing is still set for Monday, July 6, in Manhattan federal court to address trial plans. Mangione faces state and federal charges in the December 2024 killing of Thompson and has pleaded not guilty in both cases.
Mangione's attorneys described a related report as troubling and said it reflected a pattern by prosecutors to prejudice their client. Legal experts noted that such plea discussions are common and can occur at any stage before trial.
The state trial is scheduled to begin in September and the federal interstate stalking trial in November.
