Ahead of West Bengal assembly election vote counting, Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee instructed TMC counting agents in a virtual meeting to stay vigilant at centres. They urged agents not to trust rumours, avoid outside food, and report any irregularities. Counting is scheduled for May 4.
In a virtual workshop from Purulia district office, Mamata Banerjee told TMC workers, "Stay alert, don't leave counting centres." She advised against trusting rumours, eating outside food, and to monitor result uploading. Agents were told to complain immediately on EVM glitches and demand repolling if needed.
Abhishek Banerjee urged agents to demand recounting on narrow defeats, especially postal ballots, and report unusual activities like the 2021 Nandigram power outage. Mamata claimed TMC would win at least 200-plus of 294 seats and dismissed BJP propaganda. She announced district overseers, including Abhishek for South 24 Parganas and Kunal Ghosh for North Kolkata.
The two-phase polls occurred on April 23 and 29, with counting scheduled for May 4. Mamata promised financial aid to party workers assaulted by central forces. She rejected exit polls, saying, "2021 and 2024 exit polls were way off the mark."
Agents were instructed to carry home-cooked food and watch electrical transformers, citing past disruptions.
