Mastodon has announced its first new album in five years, titled Marrow Deep, along with the release of lead single Snakes for Dinner featuring Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.
The Atlanta heavy metal band revealed the news on July 13. The album is scheduled for release on August 28 via Loma Vista Recordings and marks the group's first full-length effort without late guitarist Brent Hinds, who died in a motorcycle accident in August 2025.
Founding members Brann Dailor, Troy Sanders and Bill Kelliher formed the core of the record, which also features new guitarist Nick Johnston and keyboard contributions from João Nogueira. The album draws inspiration from the Three Fates of Greek mythology.
Sanders said in a statement: Bill, Brann, and myself are thrilled that we still have the opportunity to do this, and we’ve got other members who are just over the moon to be in the band with us.
Mastodon will support the album with the Poisonous Weapons Tour across North America starting September 16 in Orlando, Florida, with support from Deafheaven and Alcest.
