Den 21-årige U21-landsholdsmålmand Mio Backhaus skulle angiveligt have nået til fuld enighed med SC Freiburg om alle betingelser. Rapporter fra Bild og Deichstube nævner et grundbeløb på 15 millioner euro for skiftet fra Weser til Dreisam.

Den nuværende førstemålmand Noah Atubolu forventes i den forbindelse at forlade klubben. Atubolu forholdt sig afventende over for rygterne efter 0:3-nederlaget i Europa League-finalen mod Aston Villa.

Udover Freiburg har flere engelske klubber også vist interesse for Backhaus. Målmanden har dog tilsyneladende valgt at blive i Bundesligaen.
