Pelicans sign Gabriel Fortier from Leksand

The Finnish Liiga club Pelicans has signed Canadian forward Gabriel Fortier from SHL team Leksand. The 26-year-old joins after recording 10 goals and 6 assists in 44 games last season.

Pelicans new sports chief Jarkko Oikarinen Holm, who recently left Kalmar, completed the signing. Oikarinen Holm highlighted Fortier's experience in the AHL and SHL. 'Gabriel gives us valuable experience from both AHL and SHL. He is a competitive, hardworking and team-loyal player with a strong will to develop,' Oikarinen Holm said. Fortier expressed excitement about the move to Lahti. He noted positive feedback from his brother and friends about Finland and looks forward to joining teammates and fans. The transfer marks Fortier's next step after his time in Sweden.
