People are with us: Vijay at TVK's third anniversary event

Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay vowed at his party's third anniversary event in Chennai to end the bipolar politics between DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu. In his 17-minute address, he branded DMK as representing injustice, anarchy and mischief, while calling AIADMK a corrupt force subservient to the BJP. He claimed TVK, backed by the people, alone could defeat DMK in the 2026 assembly elections.

At the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) third anniversary celebrations in Chennai, actor and party chief Vijay delivered a 17-minute address vowing to dismantle the decades-long dominance of DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu politics. He positioned TVK as the people's force capable of breaking this bipolar structure, especially ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. Vijay lambasted DMK for embodying injustice, anarchy and mischief, while portraying AIADMK as a corrupt entity allegedly aligned with the BJP.

Addressing criticisms of his limited public appearances, Vijay quipped, “To those who say ‘hey Vijay, come out of the house’, I would say wait boss, there’s a Vijay and Viji in every house. They will all come out on the day of voting with their voter ID and stand in front of the polling booth to vote. Then you will feel it.” He drew parallels between his movement and that of AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran, likening the 2026 polls to MGR's 1977 victory over DMK. “TVK is the movement that will take on the DMK. The DMK deployed several tactics to oppose MGR... Decades have passed but their tactics remain the same,” Vijay stated.

Dismissing opinion polls projecting TVK's debut vote share at 15-20%, he emphasized the party's whistle symbol's growing resonance. “We are the whistle blowers in Tamil Nadu. The evil force and the corrupt force should scatter when we blow loudly. Then the TVK will emerge as the ruling party. I am with you and people are with us. Be confident, victory is ours,” he declared.

Vijay referenced a 2022 remark by Chief Minister MK Stalin about ministerial misconduct causing him sleepless nights, jesting, “Wake up Stalin and ask whom he would vote. Then, he would say whistle.” DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan dismissed this as “a fantastic thing of Vijay’s brain.” The event underscores Vijay's push to establish TVK as a viable alternative in Tamil Nadu's polarized political landscape.
