Police seized 14 tons of expired frozen Australian lamb meat intended for traditional markets in Jakarta and Tangerang before Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 AD. Four suspects have been identified with distinct roles.

Indonesia's Bareskrim Polri Resmob unit seized 14 tons of expired frozen Australian lamb intended for distribution to traditional markets in Jakarta and Tangerang. The action followed public reports on the trade of the imported meat, just before Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 AD, when meat demand surges. Head of Resmob Bareskrim Polri, Commissioner Big Police Teuku Arsya Khadafi, said, “This meat was planned to be distributed to traditional markets in Jakarta and Tangerang areas, due to high meat demand.” The case began with the seizure of three trucks carrying 9 tons at the Kosambi warehousing area in Tangerang Regency. Further probes targeted two storage sites: Warehouse 1 at Poris Blok B1, Batuceper, Tangerang City, and Warehouse 2 at Jl. Raya Serang No.8, Cikupa, Tangerang Regency. Additional expired lamb totaling about 12.9 tons was secured in 459 cartons across three box vehicles, weighing 2,548.36 kg, 2,411.69 kg, and 4,052.99 kg each. Four suspects were named: IY as seller and owner, T and AR as brokers, and SS as producer or buyer. Ten witnesses were secured along with evidence. Khadafi noted, “Alhamdulillah, thanks to public information, we could anticipate to prevent widespread circulation and secure everything.” Deputy Head of Subdit I Dit Tipidter Bareskrim Polri, Comb Pol Setyo K. Heriyanto, stated the 14 tons were remnants of 24 tons shipped from Australia since 2022.
