President Prabowo Subianto established the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Committee through Presidential Regulation Number 29 of 2026. He appointed Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono as chair of the committee.
The regulation is the second amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 107 of 2015 on accelerating the provision of infrastructure and facilities for the high-speed rail between Jakarta and Bandung. Presidential Regulation No 29 of 2026 was enacted on 12 May 2026.
The committee consists of several ministers and agency heads, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Transportation, and the Head of BP BUMN. The Coordinating Minister for the Economy serves as deputy chair.
Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono stated that the government is discussing financial restructuring for the Whoosh project. This step follows President Prabowo's directive for the state to take responsibility for ensuring the sustainability of the national strategic project.
