In Cairo on October 19, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call from Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, where both sides discussed the latest developments in Gaza and current efforts to restore regional stability.

Sisi praised Norway's recognition of the Palestinian state in May 2024, describing it as "a strong step that supports the two-state solution," according to Presidency Spokesman Mohamed al-Shennawy. In response, the Norwegian prime minister congratulated Sisi on the success of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and praised Egypt's intensive efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.

Støre reaffirmed Norway's commitment to humanitarian support and a political solution that includes a gradual role for Palestinians in managing the Gaza Strip, excluding Hamas. For his part, Sisi reviewed Egypt's coordination with international partners to implement the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, facilitate humanitarian aid, and prepare for Gaza's reconstruction.

Sisi also announced Egypt's intention to host an international conference focused on early recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, expressing interest in strong Norwegian participation. The two sides reviewed rapid developments in bilateral cooperation, particularly following Sisi's visit to Norway in December 2024.
