Reid Scott to exit Law & Order in season 26

Reid Scott will depart Law & Order at the start of season 26. James Badge Dale is set to join the cast as a senior detective. The series returns October 8 in a new time slot.

Reid Scott, who plays Det. Vincent Riley, joined the series in season 23. He is leaving because he no longer wants to spend much of the year away from his family in California while the show films in New York City.

Scott will appear in some episodes of the upcoming season to give his character a proper send-off. James Badge Dale, known for roles in Hightown and 1923, will arrive later in season 26.

The returning cast includes Hugh Dancy, Tony Goldwyn, Maura Tierney, and Odelya Halevi. Law & Order was renewed for season 26 in May and will air Thursdays at 10/9c after Law & Order: SVU.
